Confidentiality
Do not send any confidential information or information that you regard as privileged to Dr. Cathy Citron-Bilovsky. The content of any correspondence you send via the internet will not be considered confidential information. Use of cell phone communication is not considered confidential. If treatment is to begin, you must telephone Dr. Cathy Citron-Bilovsky’s office to schedule an appointment. Once treatment has begun, all conversations with Dr. Cathy Citron-Bilovsky are completely confidential. Judgment may be exercised by her to disclose confidential information when necessary in the following, rarely occurring, circumstances: the patient presents a serious danger to self or others, a report of child, elder or dependent adult abuse is deemed necessary, or if ordered by a court of law. If the necessity arises for her to consult with another individual, a written authorization to disclose such information will be signed by the patient in advance of release or disclosure of information unless telephone authorization is received first, and then it will be followed with a signed consent. Occasionally, this therapist may seek consultation with another therapist regarding treatment. All potentially identifying information will be concealed.
Limitations
Dr. Cathy Citron-Bilovsky is a Licensed Marriage, Family and Child Therapist (MFT 20869) in the state of California only. She is regulated and licensed by the California Board of Behavioral Sciences.
There are some risks to seeking psychotherapeutic treatment. The treatment may not work, changes you make may be disruptive, the process may be emotionally upsetting and some changes may occur which might be unsettling. The process may be helpful for some and less helpful for others. Dr. Cathy Citron-Bilovsky keeps records of the sessions. She is required to do this. If you have an emergency and you are unable to speak with her, please call 911 or go to the nearest hospital to seek some assistance. There are alternatives to psychotherapeutic treatment. These are: recovery or other support groups, self-help programs or books, classes, workshops, retreats, etc. Or alternatively, these suggestions may be used in conjunction with psychotherapeutic treatment as well as referrals to specialists who may help in specific areas. There are many parts to this work.
